There is a peninsula separating Hakata Bay and Genkai Sea and Shikanoshima (Shika Island) can be found at the tip of it. Uminonakamichi is the name given to the reef connecting this peninsula and island. Uminonakamichi Seaside Park and an aquarium called Marine World - Uminonakamichi are located in this area. A remarkable view with the ocean spreading on both sides of the road running through the reef is indeed pleasing to the eye. The historic Shikanoshima at the tip of the peninsula became famous after a gold seal was found there which later was designated as a national treasure (http://www.japan-i.jp/explorejapan)
